Steve PullenHead Coach: Steve Pullen

Steve Pullen, MBE, is a 7th Dan (Red and White Belt) and holder of the MBE for his service to Blind and Disabled Judo. He is in charge of the Special Needs Section of the British Judo Association and is the Head National Coach for the Paralympic Judo Squad. He was awarded the Coaching Award for 1995 from the National Coach Foundation and was presented with the Churchill Fellowship Award 1989 by Her Majesty the Queen. He is the co-founder of The Urmston Judo Club at the George H Carnall Centre Urmston, which was formed in 1983. He was in charge of Physical Education at the Chethams School of music until his retirement in 1997.Currently, Steve is heading up a Team of Coaches whose prime objectives are to increase and expand the already established and successful teaching facilities in the North West with a view to integrating able bodied and disabled Judo. Building on his success with The British Blind Judo Squad who are consistently winning medals in International and World Events Steve is in the process of raising funds for a purpose-built Judo Centre of Excellence in the Greater Manchester Area. His reputation, passion, and commitment to judo are recognised throughout the world.
